How we help
Bellajack has two main streams to our business, Management & Business Assistance and Government Services.
Management & Business Assistance is all about taking the stress out of running a business. Most people who start a business do so because they are good at what they do. And you need to be, if you are going to stay in business for any length of time. The skills and talents that help someone start a business are learned by combination of formal education, on the job training and guidance experienced mentors!
What most people aren’t so good at is running a business – things like hiring and managing staff, budgeting, strategic planning, negotiating disputes or managing cash-flow. Some of this can be learnt by trial and error, it is often said we learn more from our mistakes than our successes, the problem is sometimes those mistakes can be very costly. What’s more there is no mistake you can make that hasn’t been made by before by another business. So;
Why learn from your own mistakes when you can learn from someone else’s?
Our assistance covers (almost) every aspect of running a business. Our team have run businesses successful themselves and have worked with a large number of companies, facing a wide range of issues. There is always a solution to a problem, the challenge is whether you are happy to do what needs to be done in order to change things. And, if we don’t have the solution or you need a specific skillset, then we will get you someone with the right skills to help you.
The other side of Bellajack Consulting is our Government Services Group (GSG). The GSG have two functions,
- to help businesses to access help from government and
- to help governments get their programs out to the business community.
The first part is pretty obvious.
Local, state and the federal Governments all have grants and other programs that are available to help businesses. Navigating the process of actually getting this help though can be a bit of a minefield. Even when the wording on two grant applications are the same they often need very different answers and finding out what is needed can be a real challenge. It helps to know who to talk to and what questions to ask but again this is not always as obvious as it might seem. Just as importantly, most businesses aren’t even aware of some of the most valuable, practical assistance that governments provide. That is because if you don’t know where to look and who to ask, the information can be very hard to find – we can help!
The second part flows from the first;
From time to time governments and government departments come up with programs that they need to get out to specific sectors of the business community. The problem is that, if your business hasn’t dealt with that department in the past, they won’t know you and therefore won’t contact you. They rely therefore on businesses being pro-active. Some businesses are, and they tend to get the lion’s share of opportunities. And if you can devote a good chunk of time to be pro-active then this may be worthwhile for your business. If you can’t and would like to know when something comes along that is right for you, then we can help!
